Hey everyone!
The past month or so I've been running the Windows 8 Release Preview on my desktop. It took some getting used to, but was lightning fast and awesome. However, lately I have been experiencing a lot of freezing, as well as issues installing some programs.
How did I fix this? My usual solution: Backup important files (music, photos, eBooks, school stuff, game save data, etc), wipe the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. I am now back on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and so far it's been working quite well.
Actually, no. There is one problem with all this, which is installing all my programs again! For the most part, it doesn't take too long, but the main source of rage comes from Steam. Instead of installing all the games in my Steam library at once, I'm only installing the ones I actually play on a regular basis. Still, that's a lot of data to download and I can only do so at night while everyone is sleeping.
Oh, and how could I forget all my Sims games? Yeah, I have all the expansion/stuff packs for The Sims 2, and it's going to take me forever to install them all again. Thankfully I backed up my neighbourhoods, custom content, and some other important game data, so I can hopefully just jump right in.
That's all for now. Windows Update is pestering me to restart my computer to finish installing updates, so I have to run.
Until next time,
- Andre :3
Hey I hope you know you can right click on any Steam game and keep a copy of the data and just add it to Steam once you install Windows again; no downloading everything again.
ReplyDeleteWell I wish I knew that before... xD
