A very "meh" Saturday...

Hai everyone!

So today is Saturday, and I have done absolutely nothing productive. Everyone in the house (including my cat) is just feeling...meh. My Dad is sick, my Mum might be getting sick, and I can't find anything to do.

In other news, my headset broke...well, no. The microphone on it randomly stopped picking up any sound, but I don't believe it's entirely my fault. You see, this computer tends to eat electronics, and many of my "broken" headsets work fine on the other computers in the house. So I've decided to wait until I get my new computer all set up and see if I can get this headset working on that one.

Wait, new computer? Aha, yes! Awhile ago, my Dad purchased a barebones kit* from TigerDirect, but couldn't get it working. Recently my Dad agreed that if I could get it working he would loan it to me for five years and in return receive my current computer. I'm happy with this "deal", since in five years the machine will most likely be near-obsolete and by then I will have enough money to buy my own (possibly better) machine. The problem with it right now (or so we think) is that the power supply that the kit came with is defective, so we're hoping to find a 600W that we bought awhile ago, or just buy a new one. Here's a list of the specifications, although a couple I'm not sure about:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S2-B3
Processor: Intel Core i7 @ 3.1GHz (95% sure this is the one...might be an i5).
Power Supply: DiabloTek 450W (Will replace soon)
RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) Patriot Gamer-2 DDR3-1333MHz
Video Card: ASUS Radeon HD 5450 1GB-DDR3 (Will replace with my EVGA GeForce GTS 450 - 1GB-DDR5)
Harddrive: I'll be using my current 1TB HDD unless the one included in the kit is bigger.

All in all, it's a pretty killer rig...until I can come up with the money for one of the new GeForce cards, I'll be using my current GeForce GTS 450 card instead of the ASUS one that came with the kit. Hopefully it will be powerful enough to run Saints Row: The Third without blue-screening every 5-10 minutes like my current setup does...

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!

*If you don't know what a barebones kit is, well basically it's a box full of parts required for the computer to run (i.e. motherboard, power supply, CPU, RAM, harddrive, etc). Often they will come with a case, and you build the machine yourself which I find is better than buying a pre-made computer from a store (i.e. BestBuy, Futureshop, etc) since I know exactly what is in there.
